Overall, ball games and biking/roller skating are becoming less popular while swimming and jogging/ running are showing a contrasting trend.
As can be seen from the chart, in 1975, 34% of the young choose ball games to play, making it the most popular outdoor sport compared to the other four. However, this figure has decreased to 20% at present. Biking/ roller skating have shown a similar trend with 25% of youngsters participated in 1975 went down to 16% at present.
On the contrary, swimming had only 14% of the youth taking part in at the beginning but the percentage had dramatically grown up by 20%. There saw a fluctuation in jogging/ running’s figure, from 7% in 1975 rose slightly to 13% in 1985, then continued to fall until it recovered and reached a peak of 14% today.
