The chart below shows the percentage of households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales between 1918 and 2011.
The bar chart compares the proportion of owned houses and rented houses in two countries namely England and Whales from 1918 to 2011. It is measured in percentage.

In 1918, houses on rent were far higher than other category accounting for just below 80% and just above 20% respectively. In 1939 and 1953, there were again great differences among both categories, whilst the ratio was the same in both years, around 70% and 30% sequentially. In 1961, accommodation of owned contributed to around 40%; accommodation of rented house accounted for just under 60%.
In 1981, people with the owned living was the greater proportion comparative to who were on rent ratio is 60% and 40% respectively. In 1991 and 2001, both of these were about the same with around 70% and 30%. In 2011, these were marginally same as in 1981, with a slight difference, percentage of owing household well above 60, and renting accommodation well below 40. By contrast, houses on rent and houses owned were exactly the same percentage at 50.
