The bar chart illustrates the proportion of three different platforms of companies using social media for commercial reasons from 2012 to 2016. Units were measured in percentage. Overall, large businesses used social media more than the others in the period given. Social media was used most in three types of companies in 2016 whereas the least figure for this was in small businesses in 2012. In 2012, the percentage of small businesses which used social media was around 30% compared to nearly 80% in large businesses. In both 2013 and 2015, social media presence was seen in a similar proportion (30%) in small businesses. This proportion was different in large businesses with around 77% and over 50%, respectively. In the year 2014, the percentage of large companies using social media (just around 75%) was over double that of small businesses, which was only around 35%. Meanwhile, the figure for a social media presence in small businesses was nearly 50% on this as opposed to nearly 80% of large businesses in 2016. In terms of medium businesses, over 50% of social media was used in 2016. The proportion for medium companies which used social media was around 50% in 2014, which is over 10% higher than that in 2012. Finally, the rate of medium companies that have social media presence in 2 years: 2013, 2015 was around 50% and 30%, respectively.
