The chart below shows the numbers of male and female research students studying six science-related subjects at a UK university in 2009. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart illustrated the difference in 2009 between the amount of male and female research students studying six subjects (Physics, Astronomy, Geology, Biology, Medicine, and Veterinary medicine) at a British university. Units were measured by students. On the whole, the number of male students were higher than female students in most subjects. Biology was the most popular subject among students while physics was the least favourite subject among female students and veterinary medicine was the least favourite subject among male students. For the popular subject, Biology, the difference between male and female students was around 30 male students higher where there were 200 women and 230 men. Meanwhile, we had around 40 male students less in veterinary medicine where there were 80 men and 120 women. And for medicine there were a higher number of men, exactly 200 and 175 women. In terms of physics, there was a quite large gap between female students which was less than 50 students and male students which was around 225 students. In the next there were only 150 male students and less than 75 female students in astronomy. And lastly, Geology had exactly 150 male students and 75 female students.
