the graph illustrates the medium of transport utilized by children aged from 5 to 12 years by travelling up and down to school for the time frame 1990 to 2010. the number of trips are measured as per million per unit and there are 5 medium of transport chosen by children (walking, car, cycle, walking and by bus) Overall, we can examine as per the graph walking was the most favorable in the year 1990, as the years passed the children have gradually shifted to car as a means of transport and is the most preferred in the year 2010. During the year 1990, walking was the most popular medium accounting for by slightly above 12 million but did decrease by half by 2010. Around 7 million children have chosen bus has the second best choice to travel to school. There were a little less than 6 million children who did use two mediums of transport (walking and Bus) on a daily basis to school. On the contrary, children gradually reduced by accounting around 5. 5 million by bus and 3 million children through bus and combination of bus and walking in the year 2010. Cycling recorded slightly over 6 million and the third most utilized mode of transport in the year 1990 but was drastically reduced by 4 million in the year 2010. Car was initially the least opted mode of transport in 1990 by just slight above 4 million but had drastically increased to around 11 million in 2010.
