The chart below shows the number of trips made by children in one country in 1990 and 2010 to travel to and from school using different modes of transport. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The pie chart illustrates the number of journeys that children between age 5 and 12 did to go and to return from schools during the period of 1990 to 2010. Moreover, the graph shows some options of commuting to school that were used during these years, such as car passenger, walking, cycling, walking and bus and bus. Overall, it is clear that the way of going to school changed during the past years. In 1990, slightly more than 12 millions children went to school mainly by walking. Going by bus was the second most common way as around 6 millions took buses to study. The third most popular choice was cycling with a bit more than 6 millions number of trips. Commuting to school as a car passenger was the least popular option being used for just slightly more than 4 millions times. On the other hand, in 2010 most students go to school as car passengers, numbering more than 10 millions times.
