The chart below shows the number of men and women in further education in Britain in three periods and whether they were studying full-time or part-time. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates the number of male and female engaged in full-time and part-time education in Britain over a time period of three years(1970/71, 1980/81, 1990/91). Units are measured in thousands. Overall, the number of men engaged in full-time education in the time period is the highest whereas number of men pursuing education full time is at peak in the year 1990/91. We can see a steady increase in the number of women enrolled in both full time and part time education over the 3 years. In terms of men, we can see a sharp decline in number of men pursuing part time-education in the years 1970/71 and 1980/81 from 1, 000, 000 to around 890, 000 respectively. Though, there has been an increase in trend in the later year with around 900000 men enrolled in part-time education. We can see a steady growth in the number of males pursuing full time-education from around 100000 in 1970/71 to 150000 and around 200000 in 1980/81 and 1990/91 respectively. On the other hand, the number of women pursuing both full-time and part-time education are on a steady growth. With around 750000 women enrolled in part-time education, there has been a steep growth in the number to over 1000000 from 1970/71 to 1990/91. We can see a similar trend in case of women enrolled in full-time education. Women in this category was 100000 in the year 1970/71 which almost doubled to over 200000 in 1990/91
