Overall, there is a downward trend in the developing countries while the developed countries witnessed an upward trend in the different levels of training. Primary education was provided to a similar number of girls in both the situations whereas tertiary education had a significant difference.
In the developing countries, maximum number of girls were enrolled for primary schooling during both the years with a slight difference of four numbers. This count decreased by 11 and 5 for secondary schooling and further decreased under tertiary education, hitting a low point of 66 and 75 for the years 1990 and 1998 respectively.
In contrast to the lowering numbers in the developing contries, the developed contries observed an increase in the number of girls taking up studies in the different levels of schooling.
