A good number of girls received primary education in both the kinds of countries during the two years, however, the number dropped from 83 to 72 for secondary education in the developing countries for the year 1990. Additionally, it fell down from 87 to 82 in 1998 as well. This count drops further below in case of tertiary education for the deveoping countries. It was 66 and 75 for the years 1990 and 1998 respectively.
In contrast to the falling trends for the countries undergoing development, the developed countries see a contast rise in the numbers for the various levels of education. For the years 1990 and 1998, it started off with 95 and 96 girls getting primary education per 100 boys. This number grew to 98 and 99 for the secondary education. Finally, the target of 100 was crossed in the tertiary education where 105 and 112 girls got educated per 100 boys.
