The chart depitcts how much value four selected categories (agriculture, meat & fish, machinery, and oil & gas) contributed to the Algerian export business over 60 years from 1950 to 2010.
The most prominent feature was that foreign sale of Algeria in the first half of the period relied largely on agricultural exports while in the second half oil & gas accounted for the largest share.
After rocketing by about five times to 500 millions after the first ten years, agriculture sale fell dramatically by half at the end of the next decade. It kept declining as the downward trend continued to about few millions in 2010. An opposite pattern happened to selling of oil & gas. A clear upward trend was visible during the 60 years starting from a low of 20 millions up to appox. 800 millions at the end of the period.
Meanwhile, other reamaining sectors maintained insignificant portions almost throughout the period and nearly vanished altogether in 2010.
