The bar chart in figure presents data on the total monetary value of exports of Southland in terms of international tourism, meat products and dairy products. Each category records export volumes in billions of pounds and the years surveyed are the year 2000, 2020 and projections for 2025. Overall, Southland’s exports are mainly based on international tourism with a total estimated volume of services offered staying at around 27 billion pounds in all three years considered. Dairy product exports stand at approximately 26 billion pounds while international sales of meat products appear to be the weakest of the three category with total volumes of 16. 5 billion pounds. Going into more details, international tourism was the main export in 2000, recording more than 8 billion pounds in services sold. It was followed by dairy products at slightly less than 7 billion pounds and meat products, which recorded 6 billion pounds. Of the three categories, international tourism is the sector that presents sustained and modest increase in the long-run, reaching a volume just below 9 billion pounds in 2020 and slightly less than 10 billion in 2025. Dairy products, on the other hand, saw a dramatic increase of exportations from 2000 to 2020 with a net gain of 3 billion pounds. However, levels of exports in the category are projected to moderately decrease in 2025, going from around 10 billion pounds to 9. 5.
