The bar chart provides data on the types of vehicles used by commuters in order to go to work in one city of New Zealand in 1996 and 2006. Overall, a private car or truck remained the most popular way of travelling to work, while other categories of transportation were the less required among different forms of transport in the end of the period. To begin, in 1996, the percentage of employed people who drove a private car or truck was 50 % which is the highest point of the given chart. The proportion of those who preferred a company vehicle and working at home was similar, at the percentage of slightly under ten percent. Likewise, the percentage of commuters walked or jogged and used bicycles demonstrated the same indicator at around 7 percent. However, other types of transport were taken by an insignificant amount of workers (less than 5%). It is clearly noted that in 2006, the proportion of commuters who travelled by using a private car or truck experienced a decrease by more than 10 % to approximately 39 %.
