The bar graph illustrates the proportion of USA’ inhabitants who lived alone in five separate age groups over the period from 1850 to 2000. A glance at the chart reveals that almost all the share of citizens living alone in the USA in 5 different age groups increased over the period shown. The most dramatic change was seen in 55 to 65 year olds. In 1850, the volume of people living alone who belonged to 55 to 64 aged accounted for the highest figure, at over 2%, followed by around 2% for 37 to 46 and 47-54 years old. There was no figure for 17 to 26 and 22 to 36 age group. After a period of ten years, the percentage of people falling into the 55 to 65 age group soared remarkably to about 9%. Likewise, the figure for 37 to 54 year olds rose minimally to approximately 3%. There was a gradual climb from 0% to around 2% in the percentage of residents who belong to 17 to 36 year olds. A year 2000 witnessed an ascend subtainally to over 16% in the share of people aged between 55 and 65, and the figure for 47 to 54 year olds surged quickly to 13%. People aged 17 to 47 increased almost double.
