In general look, there was a significant increase in the number of minutes of both mobiles and national-international fixed line calls throughout the period; meanwhile, the local calls fluctuated. Thus, they were quite close to each other at the end of the period. The number of national and international calls was under 40 billion minutes in 1995; however, it rose gradually and reached above 60 billion in 2002. The usage of local calls via fixed line peaked at 90 billion minutes in 1999; but after that peak, it saw a fall to almost 70 billion minutes in 2002 almost the same as in 1995. Interestingly, the mobile phone calls skyrocketed after 1999 and reached roughly 40 billion minutes in 2002.
