The bar chart illustrates the various types of vehicles used by commuters to go to work in one city of New Zealand over a period between 1996 to 2006. Overall, private car or truck remained the most popular way of travelling to work, wheares the other forms of transportation accounted for lower percentage over the period. As can be seen in the chart, in 1996, the percentage of commuters used private car or truck led the way with 50%, ten times higher than that of other form of transport, followed by moderate drop to around 38% in 2016. Company vehicle, public bus and bicycle started at a relatively low position of just under 10%, experienced an upward trend over next ten years. In constrast to the propotion of people who went to work by train showed stability around 3% over a period. However, other types of transportation demonstrated the same, followed taking by an insignificant amount of workers (less than 5%).
