Overall, The households in rented accommodations experienced a downward trend while the owned households had an upward trend throughout the period. Both the household percentage rates had some fluctuations. Although initially owned accommodations in comparison with rented accommodations was less, it outraced rented accommodations by the end of the period. In 1918, household with owned accommodation were about 20% and 60% lesser than rented accomodations. The rates remained about 30 % from 1939 to 1953 and had a steady increase of 10 % in 1961. Both the household accommodation rates touched 50% during 1971. From then it rose up to 70% in 2001 but had a slight decline of approx 5 % in 2011. On the other hand, rented accomodations was over 75 % in 1918 and decreased to almost 70% in 1939 and remained same until1953. The trend experienced a steady decline of about 10% each year between 1961 and 1991. The rates touched upto 30% in 2001 and increased about 5 % in 2011.
