The bar chart illustrates various ways of waste disposal in a particular European nation between 2005 and 2008. Overall, it is clear that the amount of waste which was disposed of by the landfill and dumping in the sea method showed downward trends over the course of 3 years, whereas the figure for the burning methods generally increased. At first, the landfill method disposed of the largest amount of waste, however, it was slowly reversed at the end of the period, the burning method became the largest treatment. At first, the landfill-way threw out around 70 million tonnes, while the method of burning and dumping in the sea threw out around approximately 65 million tonnes and 55 million tonnes respectively. This figure experienced a slight dip to 50 million tonnes from the dumping in sea method in 2006 and tends to remain a stable pattern in 2007, while the figures for the landfill and burning method fell steadily of about 20 million tonnes and 25 million tonnes respectively. Between 2007 and 2008, the landfill and dumping in the sea method dropped together to only 40 million tonnes. By contrast, there was a sudden rise to approximately 65 million tonnes by the burning method.
