The bar graph illustrates the average number of cars that traveled to the city centre per day from the year 1996 to 2005. The comparison was made between the residents and non-residents. Overall, residents made more car journeys to the city centre than non-residents in the initial years. But, when few restrictions were implemented, significant difference was observed in the journeys. To start with, from the year 1996 to 1999 the average number of car journeys made by residents fall between 9000 to 10, 000 range. After 1999, a huge increase was observed in the with regard to the non-residents. This change was because of the introduction of parking meters into city centre. Average number of cars traveled per day was around 8000. On the other hand, reduction in the number of journeys by both the category started after the year 2003 when the westgate street and park lane were closed due to traffic. The average travel in a single day ranged from 3000 to 5000. The only year where the difference in the car journeys was very less among two groups of people was 1999. The number was around 9000 and 8000 for the residents and non-residents residents respectively.
