While group of seniors fluctuated slightly, that of underaged children diminished rapidly. With regards to people around 25-54, their ratio went up to nearly 50% of the population in 2020 starting from only around 30% in 1990. In 1990, the number for people of 55-64 was higher than that of over 65, approximately 13% and 14% relatively, after which thought out all of these fluctuations, the statistic for aged inhabitants remained the same while that for retired group went down at 10%. Concerning the population under 24 years old, it was clearly that the ratio of birth was an alarming situation for Icelandic gorvernment to deal with.
