Every organisation has different policies regarding their dress code. Some organisations insist on having a strict dress code and are very clear about how they want their employees to dress, while some organisation don't focus on their employee's way of dressing and direct their attention towrds the qualities they bring to the table. Even though this seems to be a clear distinction, it is subjective to each organisation. For example, an employee could dress in the most professional attire and still be incompetent in doing their job while a person could show up the worst possible outfit and get the job done better than anyone. You also get to learn a lot about the employee and their personality by the way he/she dresses. This doesn't mean that if an employee wears an expensive or better attire they are better that what they do. Dressing smartly doesn't relate to wearing high end brands, it is about dressing professionally. I personally think that employees should dress smartly. This doesn't make any difference in their quality of work. But dressing in a certain way can help the organisation in numerous ways. The foremost being, dressing smartly makes a person look more presentable and it portrays that they are responsible and well put together. This also creates discipline in the organisation and makes everything uniform. Employees are the face of the company, looking professional can attract clientele as they feel more inclined to hiring an organisation which gives them a sense of security and shows them that organisation is capable of handling their clients. Going out of their way and dressing appropriately also shows that the employee values and respects that organisation.
