Proportion of population aged 65 years and over in the USA, Sweden and Japan

The three line-charts represent the ratio of elderly which aged 65 years old and even more over the century in three main countries (USA, Sweden, and Japan). Overall, the existence of retirement generation from Japan was the least compared to the rest in 1940, while the USA took the lead as had the highest proportion of sixty-something. But looking into the future, the japanese elderly will dominant the USA’s replacement and will become the highest rate of elderly country by 2040. For the Japanese population, it projected the decline until zero between 1940 and 1960, and it keeps steady remain at zero percentage till approximately 1990. Another obvious to be seen is that its projection will begin to increase and will reach 10% by around 2030 gradually. Surprisingly, it will far spike to the top rank of all the rest three observed nation’s 65 years old proportion with more than 25%. Interestingly, the USA and Swedish populations can be seen as the same pattern for the entire one hundred year period from lower than 10% and finally reach up to 25%, except between around 1990 and 2023, the most percentage of the difference between them can be up to 5%.
