The bar chart shows the electricity production and consumption of the top ten countries in 2014. Right of the bat, we see that two of the top three populous countries – China and the United States, are producing and consuming way more electricity than the other countries on the list.
China is leading with an electric production of 5398 billion kWh, and a consumption of 5322 billion kWh. The United States produces 4099 billion kWh of electricity, while consuming 3866 billion kWh. Other than these three countries, the scales of production and consumption of electricity are not as high as the top two in the chart. The production and consumption rates of Russia are almost similar – 1057 billion kWh and 1038 billion kWh, respectively. While the rate of consumption is always less than that of production for nine countries, an exception is seen in the case of Germany, where consumption trumps the production of electricity. However, the difference is not too much. In fact, the differences in terms of any country on the list do not have too much gap.
