The line graph compares the annual earning of players in three distinctive sports: Baseball, Football and basketball over a period of 30 years, from 1970 to 2000. Units are measured in US dollars
From an overall perspective, all three figures were similar in terms of a general rise. Especially, the average income of basketball players appeared to be by far the highest one in three chosen fields.
In 1970, it is interesting to note that the annual salary of Baseball players, Football players and Basketball players had nearly the same starting point at relatively $100. 000. After 3 years, in 1980 there were hardly no difference recorded in the average earnings of all players, in fact the figures stayed static under $300. 000. After 1980, basketball players began to earn more money than their counterparts and their salary increased dramatically and hit the peak at approximately $2. 500. 000, a huge growth of almost 25 times compared to the starting point.
Remarkably, there was also a huge growth in the income of baseball players from the middle of 1980 to the very end of the survey. By 2000, the figure rose to nearly $1. 600. 000. In contrast, although the years 1985 to 1995 observed a slight increase in the football player’s salary, the figure experienced a sudden drop to just well over $600. 000 in 2000
