In 2011, there was an average of nearly 60% sales on CDs purchased, in comparison with only around 5% on Streams. Over the next five years, the percentage of total music sales by CDs purchased increased dramatically while the percentage of total music sales by Streams witnessed a considerable increase. In 2006, the majority of music sales were the same on Streams and CDs, with just about 30% on each. From the year 2016 onwards, it can be seen that Streams peaked at about 40% of purchases while CDs bottomed out at about 25%. In 2011, although people had started to download music, it only represented 35% of sales. In 2014, Downloads peaked in 2014 at about 43% of sales but fell to 30% by 2018.
