The table below shows the involvement of adults over the age of 16 in the United Kingdom, who participated in various activities. The data is tabulated for a period of four weeks. Upon primary observation of the data, it is evident that the participation of men in the sports activities is higher than that of women. When breaking it down by the activities, it is clear that walking is the most popular activity among the chosen group of adults. Around half of the men and two fifths of the women opted for walking as their preferred physical activity. Cue games like billiards and pool saw a higher participation from the male population and it failed to attract many female players as the participation was only at 4%. Sports like cycling and weight training have seen twice more undertaking from the male population as compared to the female population. However, it is interesting to note that football saw no involvement from women. On the other hand, swimming and yoga have been more popular with women than with men. Overall, it can be concluded that most of the sports have been more popular with men than with women as the statistics indicate over two thirds of the male participants opted for at least one activity and over half the female participants opted to undertake at least one activity.
