E- learning has been gaining popularity in the recent time. More and more tertiary students opt to study online rather than traditional education. Despite the merits of traditional education, the benefits of pursuing study online outweigh the drawbacks. This essay will discuss both the advantages and disadvantages of mobile learning. To commence with, the prime merit of distant learning is that it enables students the flexibility of studying at their own time schedules. However, conventional education system is based on set of schedules and fixed time tables. Another advantage is that it provide access to online courses by computer and smart phones from any location. Moreover, people living in the remote areas can enjoy the benefits off — campus education because they do not need to travel long distances to reach universities which in turn will save their time. On the other hand, there are drawbacks associated with e-learning that learners will not be able to develop critical social skills, such as, interpersonal and communication skills. Moreover, pupils will miss the opportunity to work in team, and they would not develop team work capabilities. In addition to this, bad network connection can cause a hurdle in distant learning. In conclusion, from the above discussion it is evident that the merits of studying online out lift the demerits, benefits include flexibility, time savage and availability of recorded lessons and many more, whereas, drawbacks include lack of communication skills, confidence as well as lack of team spirit.
