The graph illustrates the number of oil barrels which were manufactured and depleted every day in China in the period from 1982 to 2006. Overall, the figures for oil production and consumption have an upward trend throughout 24 years. Remarkably, the amount of oil drained annually was twice as much as that generated in the second half of the period. In 1982, there was no significant divergence in Chinese oil consumption and production, which both stood at about 2 million barrels per day. During the next 12 years, the statistic of oil barrels fabricated daily witnessed a dramatic increase of 1 million in the first 4 years and following by maintaining this sum for the next 8 years, whereas that used by people experienced the reverse phenomenon. It can be seen from the graph that since 1994, the gap in the amount of oil day-to-day between depletion (= consumption) and generation (= production) became too immense. In the last years of the period, the fabrication of this kind of fuel rose slightly, just below 3. 5 million, while the amount in demand doubled that.
