The bar chart illustrates the number of men and women who participated in further eduation in Britain whether it is full-time or part-time. It is divided into three time period. Overall, the part-time mode had a higher participation rate compared to the full-time education for both gender. Throughout the years, the trend of studying part time is relatively stable, however there was a drastic increase of woman engaged in part-time education in the 1990s. In the 1970s, there were around 1 million who were participating in part-time education, while there were only approximately 750, 000 females in the same time period. However, at the end of the 3 year period, from 1990 to 1991, there were a lot more woman in part-time education as it reached its peak of roughly 1, 1 million participation. Comparatively, the number of men was lower compared to its peak in 1970s where it is only at roughly 900, 000 males. With regards to full-time study, the trend for both gender was increasing with a drastic increase happening for female in 1980-1981 where the numbers were almost tripled from roughly 70, 000 in 1970 and approximately 200, 000 in 1980.
