The line graph illustrates the amount of dollars spent on books by the citizens of Europe from 1995 to 2005. As many as 4 different European countries are considered namely Germany, Austria, France and Italy.
On critically analyzing the line graph, it seems that the money spent on books in Germany had started off at nearly 80 million dollars. But, the line graph for the money spent in Germany seems to be fluctuating over the 10 years period. From 1995 onwards, the graph seems to have experienced a steady growth, thus, reaching 90 million dollars in 1999. From 1999, however, the money expended on books started a downward trend to bottom out at approximately 82 million dollars in 2003. Consequently, the line graph witnessed a gradual increase and reached a high of 92 million dollars in 2005.
On the other hand, the line graph for France has majorly remained constant over the period. The money spent on books in France began at slightly less than 60 million dollars. Since then, the line graph is gradually increasing, to reach an amount of 60 million dollars in 1999. Without bucking this trend, the amount of money squandered on books keeps on increasing until 2005 which is when it reaches its high at 71 million dollars.
A lot of variation can be seen for the graph of Italy. It becomes quite clear from the graph that the Italians had spent 50 million dollars on books in 1995. The amount spent on books rose from 1995 by 10% in 1997 only to witness a dip in the later years. Subsequently, there has been a substantial growth in the amount of money spent on books from 1999 to 2005.
Finally, Austria seems to have undergone significant fluctuations. It becomes clear from the graph that around 30 million dollars were spent on books in 1995 by Austrians. The line graph has witnessed continuous growth till 1999 after which it has leveled off at 40 million dollars until 2001. However, after 2001, the money spent on books has skyrocketed to 60 million dollars in 2005.
Overall, it can be deduced from the graph that highest amount of money spent on books is spent in Germany. France seems to come in second which is closely followed up by Austria. Italy, on the other hand has secured the last place since the Italians have spent the least amount of money on books.
