Meadowside Village and Fonton development over 1962, 1985 and the present day. 7WP8y
The maps illustrate the development of Meadowside village and Fonton, which is a neighbouring town, during the periods of 1962, 1985 and the present. Overall, it is evident that, Meadowside has grown from a village to an urban city, whilst, merging with Fonton which has also increased in land area considerably. Additionally, the expansion and growth of Meadowside and Fonton, have directly resulted in the introduction of new infrastructure facilities, recreational areas and residential suburbs. In 1962, Meadowside village, which comparatively inherited a small land extent, only had a narrow road stretching from the west towards the northeast of the land. Fonton, on the other hand, had a railway path crossing the land from the east end to the northwest. Moving on to 1985, it can be established that Meadowside has significantly increased in size with dedicated areas for a leisure complex, housing estate and a super-store in close proximity to the main road. The main road has also developed from a narrow single-way road to a noticeably wider, two-way road with an additional street connecting the neighbouring land, Fonton. The present-day map clearly demonstrates, the merger between the two regions with a large Hotel constructed just north of the railway station, which is situated adjacent to the railway line. Another striking development is the business park located towards the south end of the vast land with the entrance facing the main road just above.
