It is undeniable that education plays an essential role in the development of children. While there are some views arguing that children should attend school as soon as possible, I personally believe that the perfect time for them to start school is when they turn seven as this will greatly benefit their development in the long term. On the one hand, it is understandable that attending school early can be beneficial to children for various reasons. Firstly, starting their study at a younger age serves as a careful preparation for the further knowledge. This really helps to arouse interest in children’s learning, and makes them more well-prepared for the future official curriculums. Therefore, young children can have a good grasp of basic understanding about their future lessons and soon become accustomed to their schooling. Secondly, attending school sooner leads to the boost of intellectual development in children. As they are exposed to knowledge at younger ages when they are curious about everything surrounding, they will certainly be prompted to explore more intriguing things about the world, which undoubtedly enhances creativity and intelligence in children. Despite these arguments above, I still believe that children should start school at the age of seven. This is seen as an appropriate time for boys and girls to attend school as they are fully developed for schooling. Moreover, there is also some compelling evidence supporting that early learning does nothing to improve educational outcomes. In many countries, such as Finland, whose students begin go to school at later ages, still tops international educational league tables and outperforms other nations where young children have to start learning very early. Additionally, play time is as important as study from perspectives of brain development because it contributes to the boost in creativity and natural talents instead of imposing study pressure on small children. In conclusion, I think that children should be given a chance to play and explore the world themselves before attending school and receiving teacher’s guidance so that they will be fully prepared in natural ways.
