Many People Believe That Social Networking Sites Have A Huge Negative Impact On Both Individuals And Society

Social networking websites, for instance, Facebook and Instagram, have changed the way people communicate forever. While some think that social media has helped bring people close, there are those who believe that social networking has had devastating effects on individuals in society. Even though there are some obvious benefits, I strongly agree that excessive use of social media has had profound negative effects on different communities around the world. Social media websites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have greatly impacted people in lots of countries around the world. Users spend an unreasonable amount of time scrolling through the news feed and liking pictures which has caused a massive disruption in their social life. Especially teenagers, for instance, instead of socializing and talking about one’s day while sitting at a lunch table, everyone at the table will be busy watching a certain video or liking a post on Instagram. Consequently, this results in having awkward silences and shallow conversations between friends which, therefore, puts a strain on relationships between individuals. In my opinion, these websites have destroyed the social lives and relationships in different societies due to the inadequate amount of time spent on physical dialogue.
