The line graph illustrates people visiting and leaving the UK from 1979 to 1999 (unit in millions), while the bar chart demonstrates the most famous countries visited by the citizens of UK in 1999. Overall, going to see another country by UK residents was almost 3 times higher than people visiting the UK. Most of the population went on to visit France whereas Turkey saw the least amount of UK citizens arriving in their country. In 1979, the gap between foreigners arriving in the UK to the locals going abroad was marginal at around 10 and 14 million respectively. The difference was relatively stable till around 1987, after which the people of UK going abroad increased dramatically to end over 50 million in 1999 while visits to the UK grew steadily to end at around 26 million in the final year. In 1999, France and Spain saw the most UK travelers with about 13 and 8 million respectively, on the other hand, turkey had the least with just around 3 million UK citizens visiting.
