It is in some people belief that in the nearest future the mankind will be able to spend its holidays on the moon’s surface. This essay will assess the possibility of such leisure, and make predictions about those holidays. There are several facts against such leisure in the near and middle term future. Firstly, it is very expensive. Space projects are possible only for states or transnational corporates, and there is no evidence that things have changed. Secondly, the mankind still does not have space technologies for distant and comfort space travels. The person who wants to travel beyond the Earth’s gravity needs to be extremely well prepared physically and mentally. Finally, it seems that finding volunteers for the travel will not be an ordinary task. Humans have visited the moon several times already, yet the last travel took place in the 70’s. I suppose there are no interests on the moon for ordinary people, not for explorers or scientists. But it is still possible to have a fun on the moon in the distant future. At first, it can be some kinds of sport contests. According to lower gravitation, people can find usual sport like basketball very interesting. The gravity will definitely change the gameplay, but I suppose the fact that a stout person will be able to jump for several feet and score a ball will attract the attention to such game. Lastly, the moon is still unexplored. As a matter of fact, it is rather hard to find blank spots on the Earth’s map. Nevertheless, the whole moon is slightly explored. It is possible to travel on the moon’s surface on some kind of space buggy and name a mountain by you girlfriend’s or wife’s name. I am pretty sure that women will estimate such romantic. In conclusion, I would like to say that nowadays and in the nearest and middle future moon travels are impossible.
