The given diagram depicits the process of making ethanol step by step from corn. Overall, there are 8 stages in this process of making ethanol, beginning with storing and ending up with transporting. First, the corn is taken to a factory where it is stored for several hours and then after it undergoes milling. After miling is completed, it is then supplied with large amount of water to cook the products which require abou 4 hours. Next, this nicely cooked corn is taken for fermentation, the most crucial as well as lengthy part of entire process for making ethanol using bacteria. It takes about about 48 hours for this stage only. The corn is now ready for being separated into liquid and solid by-product. The liquid produced is purified to produce ethanol, the desired product. This whole process of purifying requires 5 hours. Finally, the purified ethanol is stored and then transporeted to the factories.
