A glance at the bar chart provided reveals the percentage of people who were involved in sports activities in Canada during 7 years. Overall, it is obvious that the figure for 2005 had steadily increased, whereas the figure for 1998 had fluctuated. Moreover, golf has been the most played sport. In 1998 the most popular sports were golf and ice hockey. According to the chart bar, the percentages of golf slightly outnumber 22 percent, while ice hockey is about 17-18 percent. Over the next seven years, that number dropped by about 2 percent each, but they continued to lead in terms of attendance. By comparison with 2005, baseball and swimming were in the top 4 in 1998 with 17 and 13 percent, but in 2005 the figure had fallen by 10 percent for baseball and 5 percent for swimming. By comparison with the previous 4 types of sports, the remaining 6 sports were not as popular. In 1998, the values for these sports ranged from 7 to 9%. But in 2005, the percentage dropped to 6 and 8 percentage points in almost all the sports, except basketball which dropped only by 2 percentage points and football, which gained 2 percentage points.
