The line graph illustrates how many commuters in the UK use three means of transport from 1970 to 2030. Overall, while the numbers of people commuting by car and train experience an increase, the figure for the bus decreases. In addition, the car is by far the most popular method of transport for UK commuters during the period shown. In 1970, around 5 million UK commuters used a car to travel to work each day, while the bus and train were used by about 4 million and 2 million people respectively. The period between 1970 and 2000 witnessed a remarkable rise in the number of commuters driving to work. Similarly, the number of those who used the train also slightly went up to 3 million. On the contrary, the number of bus users experienced a slow fall to approximately 0. 5 million. By 2030, commuters who travelled by car will be expected to quickly rise to 9 million and the number of train users is also predicted to rise, to nearly 5 million. In contrast, there will be a continuous decrease in the figure for bus users to below 3 million in the same year.
