The singular-variable line graph illustrates the number of cases of diarrhea in Mashhad over the 10 years period from 1983 to 1992. Overall, the number of cases of people with diarrhea decreased over the period given. The highest number of people with the illness can be observed in 1989. In the given first two years, 1983 and 1984, the number of cases of diarrhea fluctuated around 100 and started to rise steadily in 1985 to reach about 175 in 1986. This was followed by another increase, although much slighter, in the years from 1986 to 1987 when the cases were approximately 200. In the period from 1987 to 1988, an unexpected decrease occurred and the number of cases dipped to below 100. However, this downward trend was broken with a much more steeper and dramatic incline and reached a peak of 400. From 1989 to 1990, the number of cases remained gradually decreasing before maintaining the same level for the following one year period. Yet, this was not to last as a tremendous change occurred from 1991 to 1992 and the number of cases plummeted sharply to 0 at the end of this period.
