explain the diagram given below and make comparison where relevant QKA1x
The given diagram describes the working and the arrangement of the set-up at the hydroelectric power station. Electricity is produced by the river water and the function of the set-up changes as per the timings. In general, the power station is located far from the high-level reservoir. The reservoir is controlled by the dam and water is supplied through a pipeline to the power station. In the capability station, there are different equipment installed. One of them is a generator which is the second most important component to produce electricity from water. The primary component is a turbine which converts fluid energy to rotational and the further generator converts it into electric energy and supplies to national grids through the power lines which we get at home. A lower reservoir is situated to collect the extra amount of water coming out of the turbine or to maintain turbine efficiency. This set-up works to produce electricity during day time while in the night, it pumps back the water from a low reservoir to high. So the dam is closed during the night. Turbines are used reversibly which can perform both operations. Thus, from the installation, we get electricity at our home and we can use electrically charged home appliances.
