The bar chart shows the number (in thousands) of students who chose to study different university subjects in 2005. The chart groups the students according to subject and divides these subject groups into males and females. In general, there are clear differences about choice subjects between the males and the females. For males, Science was the most chosen and lowest for Languages, while the highest number of females chose Social Sciences and the lowest in Mathematics. The number of males chose the Social Sciences, the Languages and the Art lower than females, as many as females in Humanities and higher than the females in all other subjects. In the Sciences, the number of males who chose this subject was over 20 thousand, while there were over 10 thousand choices of females. Similar to science, the number of choices for the Mathematics of males is about 18 thousand, 3 times higher than females. In the Literature and the Law, the number of males chose these subjects fluctuated from 10 to 15 thousand, while this number of females varied from over 5 to over 10 thousand. On the other hand, in the Social Sciences, there were nearly 25 thousand choices of male and nearly 15 thousand choices of females. Specifically in the Languages, the female’s choices are about 9 times higher than male’s choice was about 2 thousand. In the Arts, there were nearly 10 thousand females who chose this subject while there were only 3 thousand males. Moreover, the number of choices for the Humanities in males and females was the same, was over 10 thousand.
