The table shows the comparison of the variation of the population in six different regions (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America and Oceania)between 1950 and 2000, and estimations for the year of 2050.
Overall, it is apparent that Asia is the only region which contributes the greatest of all while Oceania accounts for only a small figure, compared with the contribution of the rest of the regions over the same time frame. Moreover, the quantity of people in Africa rose gradually and is expected increase by 2050 whereas that of Europe is likely to fall by the same year.
As per table, Africa started at only 9% at the beginning of the given period of time and the figure is expected to make a growth of a fifth of the world population by 2050. On the contrary, the number the people in Europe is estimated to drop to only 7% by the end of the same time frame although it started with 22% of its contribution at the start. However, Asia comprised of a large majority of people with 56% in 1950 and there is a tendency to fall marginally to hit a low of 59% by 2050, though it is the only continent which accounts for the greatest contribution for world population.
On the other hand, the remaining regions such as Latin America, North America and Oceania made a minor contribution for the total of the world population; the quantity of the citizens of those regions comprised of just under 10% over the given period of time. In other words, Oceania started with less than 1% and will increase to about 1% only while North America began with 7% and it is forecast that the trend will drop to reach only 4% by 2050. Nonetheless, beginning with 6% of the population, Latin America tends to rise just under one in ten by the final year.
