Average weekly earnings ($): by sex, highest qualification attained and age, 2005

The given table provides information on the average weekly income of men and women in UK in 2005. The three main factors affecting income were gender, highest qualification and age. It can be observed that men in the UK earned far more than women. In fact, the earnings of men was 25% more than that of women. The average weekly salary of male workers was $506, whereas female workers were paid $397 every week. Not surprisingly, men with degrees earned more than double than men who held no qualifications. For example, qualified men made $726 a week compared to $342 for unqualified men. This trend was also true for women, where qualified were paid $561 and women with no academic achievements received $251 every seven days. It is interesting to see that 45-54 was the highest earning age group for men. This age group was paid an average of $575 per week. However, 35-44 year old men made just $1 less. Finally, it is worth noting that women of the age group 35-44 were the most financially stable with an average salary of $433 per week.
