Since my village is situated in a remote location, some students had to drop out of school due to lack of teachers. At the high school, since we must get to the city to pursue education, our families could not afford to supply our expense of education and city living, thus we decided to leave school. It was the time when our chemistry teacher called us and said: "to conquer your summit, you have to sometimes be a diamond or graphite, in either case, you will be a winner, and just sometimes you need to be the hardest or the most flexible person. In this situation, if you have a dream, you must be the stiffest person toward achieving yours". I believe everyone in her life has an inner spark toward something. The vivid imagination of my chemistry teacher on how we could be such a diamond or graphite, turned out to be a desire for learning chemical structures that inclined me to study chemistry.
During my Bachelor's, both theoretical and experimental modules truly engrossed me in chemistry. I also participated in the workshops on the synthesis and characterization of nanostructures, organized by the Chemistry Association of the university which satisfied me to focus more on my curriculum plan so that from semester 3 onwards, I gained high marks in the subjects. Over the degree, as an extracurricular activity, I committed to the struggle of my village to receive a better situation. By joining a local Education team, I started teaching chemistry concepts voluntarily to high school students as many of them had a dream. Most of the students I taught, scored A+ in chemistry that year. This worthwhile opportunity motivated me to dive even more into this field.
Getting experience in academic life and having a resolute desire to realise more thrilling world of chemistry had persuaded me to undertake a master's in Nanochemistry at Urmia University. At this stage, I worked on two research projects: first, the proposed thesis by the Centre on smart food packaging. I aimed to design and produce an active and intelligent system, containing nanoscavengers, antioxidants, and time-temperature indicators to delay meat spoilage, based on deliberate interactions of the package components with internal gases released from the meat. I had utilized analytical techniques for determining the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of the package, and this project was presented as a poster in the 24th Iranian Seminar of Organic Chemistry. The later used to be my broad research on green chemistry with a particular emphasis on the one-pot synthesis of organic compounds using heterogeneous nanocatalysts. Understanding how catalysts can be designed to meet the existing needs and developing my perseverance to solve challenges faced over this course, helped me attract my supervisor; thus, he encouraged me to be a more voracious Research Assistant.
After graduating, I focused more on the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds using organometallic catalysts made from incorporating amino acids and small drugs. I read many articles about drug compounds that contained similar functional groups to amino acid structures, playing the role of organic linkers. By reading the articles, I have perceived the essential role of drugs, peptides, and other biomolecules in our lives, and I have been fascinated by the art of designing and developing these biostructures. For enhancing in this area, I need to build my research skills and knowledge to match my passion by taking a second master with relevant modules. Indeed, my previous master's and experience have been my milestones to explore this new area.
Now, I am eager to be a researcher to further learn how building blocks and bioactive agents or biomolecules can be fabricated or modified and be accommodated as therapeutic compounds or how active peptides can manage as catalytic systems. Hence, the Chemistry program at the University of Tubingen is an interdisciplinary superb potential to broaden my comprehensive skills because offered innovative curriculum will pave a path for me to gain a great insight into biological and chemical concepts such as peptide synthesis and other bioactive structures. Meanwhile, my excitement and satisfaction of being at the forefront of this field are infinite owing to learning more from eminent professors with exceptional research backgrounds in an inclusive setting. Therefore, being admitted to this program will provide me with a favourable platform to prepare to succeed in my future career because Germany is a country to pursue education through a fair and excellent educational system.
My next goal is to continue my education after graduating and finally achieve a postdoc within this field, a rapidly evolving field with immense research potential. After completing this step, I would crave to pursue a career in this field and gain experience of how peptide scaffolds can develop as therapeutics as well as organocatalysis.
Finally, I believe that my diligent feature and immense energy would accompany me to seek and thrive on challenges that the research involves. I am confident that I have the required aptitude to widen and contribute to my selected field. I appreciate your consideration and taking the time to consider my applicant and documents.
