Is advertising increase people's tendency towards more shopping or it just introduces new products? This question has been at the center of the global debate for several years. It is probably true to say that some proponents claim that the advertisement industry has lots of benefits to offer such as, showing new products but, I think that this industry more manipulate people to buy stuff that they do not really need. I believe that not only it simply over-rate a product but also, exagerate the result in an unrealistic way.
To begin with, the main problem with advertising is that it causes people to buy things without even thinking of their needs, and this attitude has brought certain issues in terms of economic and global warming problems. It is a fact that there is an increased propensity for people to shop more due to the materialistic culture that we face in recent years therefore, it makes sense that producers use this behavior and show-off the use of some features in a product more than they are really useful. For instance, according to a recent survey conducted by Cambridge University, the overwhelming predominance of people porches new cell-phones just because they told it has useful features more than the previous one.
Moreover, in some advertising the result of using a product shows in an unrealistic way which I see this as a negative impact on mental health becase it rise people expectation to an unreachable level. For exapmple, some experts claim that there is a direct correlation between buying skin care products and the skin of the acteress who played an advertisement.
In conclusion, consider all the strengths and weaknesses, although, this theory still has its opponents, I tend to agree with this concern which is advertising encourages people to porches thing that they do not really need.
