Everyone has their own wonderland being eager to discover it, to me, the computer world has become the one since I was 16. Thanks to the growing nature of computer science, it has never been boring to me to learn about the latest technologies and sophisticated concepts. As a result, I majored in Computer Software Engineering and started my job in the same field. But deciding to follow my education at a higher level is rooted in long-standing involvement in professional work environments, where I got intrigued by expanding and deepening my knowledge. Therefore, that was what propelled me through studying for a Master's degree in Information Technology Management after a ten-year gap to upgrade the level of my education as well as research skills which made me realize my desire of becoming an academic person. As just a practical answer to "how" is not enough for me and I am always in awe of knowing “why” as well, which motivates me to seek in-depth knowledge.
During the 14 years that I have been working mainly as a software developer, I have had great opportunities to work with different teams in analyzing, producing, and implementing large-scale applications on diverse platforms with various programming languages, and some extra volunteer works, which made me a senior developer, analyst, and mentor in software development. Since operating and supporting professional, real-world, and online software applications need commitment, concentration, patience, and well-managed timetables, I can claim these have driven me to excel in my skills and potentials.
The starting point in my research path was the final project of my undergraduate study, where influenced by Butterfly Effect theory, I chose to analyze some articles on data mining concepts. Although the milestone in this journey is my Master's thesis in which I proposed a model, with the combination of a computational method and machine learning techniques, to deliver an accurate and well-paced approach to address an optimized answer to a complex issue like fraud detection. The suggested model’s outcomes were properly evaluated and compared to another common model in this area. Beyond the satisfactory result, I’d made an effort to determine some best practices on applied metaheuristic algorithm parameters and variables as a side achievement.
What I gained from this procedure encouraged me to rethink my way, consequently, it made me recognize that I need to move on from a principally practical actor in this major to an academic identity. This experience has greatly helped me enhance my abilities in searching, analyzing, and relating academic and scientific publications so that bettered me in choosing the proper literature and following the right direction. More than that because of my professional background in developing applications, there is no boundary to implement practical scenarios and test cases to boost the quality and certainty degree of models as well as results.
My research interests are categorized into two particular groups. Concepts that are relevant to the complexity of software development like programming languages design; formal methods for verification and validation; software quality and reliability; in addition to machine learning techniques to adjust systems to work as effectively as possible, and also their use cases in cybersecurity, fraud detection, and knowledge discovery. To add on, I would like to explore methods and techniques to verify or even improve the reliability of complex systems' design. Further, working with learning techniques comes with advantages in more efficient complex and enterprise systems along with introducing novel attitude patterns. Furthermore, it is feasible even to consider an interdisciplinary approach as a future direction.
Previously, I have had a chance to contact Dr. Y, and based on studying his provided materials I am confident that I can carry out successful research/project under Dr. Y's supervision since his publications and experiences make significant progress towards the goal of a unified context-free approach for the verification of complex systems.
After years of experience in professional work environments, I understand the ultimate aim which can fulfill my potentials is being in an academic position where I can pursue my research interests, seek the origins, relate the concepts, or even create a new path. Being an inspiring academic mentor is another captivating perspective to me as I appreciate influencing, guiding, supporting, and helping others to find their directions.
The Master's program at X university would suitably provide me with a great opportunity as starting point to build up a way to my intention, along with broadening essential knowledge and developing required skills, since it aligns well with my research interest area. When I looked back to the path that I paved, I reckon that my academic and professional experiences have qualified me well with the knowledge and skills to take a huge step by attending this graduate program. Moreover, my aspiration in research and mentoring motivates me to try hard to meet the requirements and be a competent fit for this program which definitely will have a profound impact on my academic performance and devotion. I look forward to pursuing my career objectives in Computer Science with the help of this program bridged toward my goal and I opine this program suits me the best.
