Dear Sir or Madam, Social media usage had a remarkable growth in the past decade. People are more inclined towards using social media and keeping in touch with each other than personally meeting someone. As much as social media has enabled us to connect to people more easily, near or far, I still feel this has both merits and demerits to be considered. Social media account like Facebook and Instagram has helped me get in touch with a lot of my friends and family all over the globe. I also follow various business forums and selling pages from where I shop time to time. Besides, I get to connect with the most influential people in the country. The communication just becomes easier due to much easier access. What we often don't realise is, social media is just not about posting personal images or connecting with friends and family, one can also use it to find jobs. There are lots of pages with job postings and employers even sponsor their pages to spread awareness. I have landed a job in the past through facebook and I could not consider myself more fortunate. However, social media has its own adverse effects as well. Now a days it has become a platform for rich people to show off their expensive lifestyle which psychologically affects a lot of people who cannot afford them. Besides that, it is increasingly causing issues in people's lives due to high levels of extra marital affair and other forms of cheating. The depression spread through such activities is so real that people even commit suicide. To conclude, I personally think social media usage depends on person to person. It depends on us how we want to use it to benefit our lives.
