Advantages and disadvantages of being an only child.

Advantages and disadvantages of being an only child. VBA5K
Over the last two or three decades, having an only child has increased in most of families. This essay will suggest that parents’ appropriate attention to their child is the biggest advantage of this and growing up alone is the primary disadvantage for being an only child. The children’s needs, have been changed both spiritually and materialistically so, lots of parents prefer to have only one child instead of several children. This allows them to pay attention to child’s upbringing and development, education, training and health compared to the one who have more children. For instance, buying a bigger house for some families who want to have several children costs a fortune and they can’t prepare appropriate condition for raising children. as a result, they avoid it. Despite this advantage, growing up on their own is considered as a most important disadvantage of being an only child. These children are deprived of having siblings in their childhood to play and speak with them. In addition, when they become older there is nobody to support them in face of challenges and problems. For example, as a woman my sister is the closest person to me for speaking sincerely and in some occasions my brother is the best supporter for me. In conclusion, being an only child can be advantageous if parents pay attention to their child in appropriate way, however, this may lead to loneliness for children who don’t have brother and sister.
