The statement that international news should be studied at secondary school is strong for several reasons. From a social viewpoint, it would help students to gain a wider perspective of the world. In this way, youngsters can be widely acknowledged with current affairs so that they could be aware of how to act properly. For example, an official announcement about Covid-19, the disease caused by a virus strain spreading all over the world recently, is made to caution people in order that they are able to prevent and protect themselves. Moreover, from an educational stance, international news accompanied by different academic subjects such as science, literature, mathematics would complete the integrated learning, which provides students with full assets to lead their life in the future. And their career opportunity may perfectly exemplify this point. It is, therefore, clear that global updating plays a vital role in assisting education. On the other hand, it is also understandable that the study of international news would be a destructive and wasteful use of school time. First, it would be one of the main underlying reasons for school vices. Particularly, the violence represented in many of today's news could affect students' performance. This is because, at the secondary school’ age, students are still inexperienced to understand those negative aspects. So the youngsters tend to misjudge the situations and act inappropriately. Secondly, adding international news as an official subject is considered to be a misuse of school time; it is irrefutable that there would be no time for students to acquire a new subject because they are now snowed with a hectic schedule, which may result in overloading if any additions. Additionally, in the current education system, especially examinations, it places a great emphasis on academic subjects, so students seem to make a strenuous effort to accomplish their studying. To make the matter worse, they might fail the important exams, if students don’t spend enough time to study and prepare for. By the aforementioned reason, international news should not be included in secondary curricula.
