I first became a dog owner when I was a young adult. Until then, I had never really known anyone in my life who had dogs in their life. The cuteness of a new pup aside, the joy of having so much love around you is in itself very endearing. I fell in love with Rufus (my dog) within the first few hours of bringing him home with me. He was messy, scared and followed me around everywhere, all the time! Over time, as he grew into himself, the naughty playful side came out. I had it easy, he was always obedient and easy to train. I remember when he would accidently snap or bite me, and I'd make noises to suggest that I was in pain, he be very sorry. Oh the eyes, they have always been one to let you put aside any anger or upset. He is now over 12 years old, and I can't imagine my life without him. He is just such a joy to have around. He may not be as playful any longer, but he still shows his adoration when he has the strength for it. Oh Rufus, how I love you!
