These days, it is claimed that volunteering should be an obligatory part of curriculum of high schools. In my opinion, this kind of obligation is not efficient for encouraging towards to teenagers, so I totally disagree with that idea. There is no doubt that young people tend to rebel and they refuse almost everything from autorithy especially the mandatorial ones. Youngsters will not agree to participate in these programmes unless they really want to, even if it is compulsory. If the main aim is to encourage them for some community services, other solutions could be tried. For instance, their parents can set a good example and be a volunteer in different events like visiting a nursing home with their children. Volunteering is not include the compulsority, it should be done willingly. Therefore, to demonstrate the necessity of helping other people is a better idea than that make children working for unpaid services. The high school teachers should add various lessons relating this topic in the curriculum and they should organize events like clothes donations or creating new homes for birds in the neighbourhood with friends, rather than forcing them into charity work.
